Genesis

The book of Genesis lays the foundation for all of Scripture, as it describes the beginning of our history as mankind, the fall of man into sin, and the plan of God for the redemption of His creation. It tells us who God is, who we are, and it points us forward to the good news about Jesus; that He created a good world, sustains an imperfect world, and would come to redeem a broken and sinful world. This class is an overview of the book and in it we will see how God was present and active in His world from the very beginning.

This adult and youth class will be taught in the Fellowship Hall by Mike Picone, Mark Quay, and Charlie Monroe.

New Testament Survey

Comprised of 27 books and written by at least 8 different authors over a span of 40-50 years, the New Testament is a collection of writings that were inspired by God, and are therefore authoritative for life and practice. While the Old Testament is known for building anticipation of the Messiah, the New Testament is marked by the fulfillment of God’s promises realized in the life and work of Jesus Christ. In this class we will look at the New Testament as a whole, seeing how each individual book fits into the larger story of redemption. We will talk about the process of selecting books for their inclusion in the New Testament and will see how it is all profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.

Taught by Jonathan Clayton, Jim Gleason, and Eliza Marks, this adult and youth class will meet in the Annex.

New Testament Survey - Middle School Class

Knowing and understanding the New Testament is a big task!! But thankfully you don’t have to be fluent in Greek or an expert in first century history or geography. You do however have to read and study. And that is what we will be doing in this class. Like the adult class, we will be getting an overview of the New Testament, seeing how each of the different books fit into the big story of redemption. We will discuss how the different books came to be part of our New Testament, and we will see how they are to be engaged with as we pursue a deeper relationship with Jesus.

This class will be taught by a collection of youth parents in the Library.
